Big Easy Covent Garden

The building in Covent Garden that houses barbecue and seafood restaurant Big Easy was once an electrical power station. And there’s certainly no shortage of energy in its current incarnation—a vibrant place with live music every night, a gargantuan bar featuring over 500 bottles, and a setting that screams bold Americana.

The food has a suitable emphasis on flavour and impact rather than on fiddly finesse. At the heart of menu is the impressive and highly authentic southern barbecue pit, whose wood burning smokers have been imported directly from Texas.

Meats are cooked low and slow for as long as 18 hours over a variety of flavour-infusing woods: cherry, apple, oak, hickory. Seafood also features prominently, including fresh Nova Scotia lobsters, fished out of a huge 1,500kg tank.
