Jidori is a yakitori restaurant that takes its name from the special breed of free-range chickens renowned for their robust flavour and impeccable freshness in Japan. Staying true to this ethos, Jidori use the freshest free-range birds, delivered direct from Yorkshire, utilising every part of the chicken – whether it’s on a stick, flavouring their broth or enhancing their tare.
Jidori source the freshest and where possible, local ingredients, with their regularly changing specials using the best of the season’s produce.
In both their Dalston and Covent Garden restaurants, they aim to bring the spirit, atmosphere and fun of yakitori-yas to London. At the heart of Jidori’s kitchens are their custom made Kama-Asa Shoten grills, sourced directly from Tokyo during their travels.
The second site in Covent Garden brings the popular Japanese small plates and skewers, as well as a new extended menu and a karaoke room for private parties. Spread over three floors of a Georgian terrace, Jidori seats approximately 50 diners and takes inspiration from the vibrant restaurant and bar scene of Tokyo, where the streets are a maze of tiny drinking dens and restaurants split over multiple levels.
During the day, Jidori provides the perfect pit stop for a donburi rice bowl and some yakitori skewers, whereas the evening service is ideal for larger groups, with Jidori’s signature Omakase sharing platters. Groups can hire out entire floors of the restaurant, including the Karaoke room on the lower ground floor which will seat parties of 8 or more people (up to 10) featuring a communal dining table designed exclusively for the restaurant by Artist John Booth.
