Become the King or Queen of Balthazar
Back by popular demand, Balthazar's Galette des Rois cake returns to both the restaurant and the Boulangerie this January. Named in honour of The Three Kings and hugely popular in France, this flaky puff pastry cake with a velvety frangipane centre occasionally contains a hidden porcelain figure or “fève”, and as tradition goes, the person who finds the fève becomes king - or queen - for the day!
Guests who find a fève in their galette whilst dining in the restaurant will receive a complimentary bottle of Champagne served at their table – as well as their golden crown, of course!
Traditionally, “galette season'' runs from Epiphany on the twelfth night after Christmas (6th January 2018), until 31th January, which means there’s plenty of time to indulge in this magnificent tradition. Grab a slice from Balthazar's Boulangerie or order a whole galette (complete with crown and feve) to enjoy at home with friends and family. Serve it warm with ice cream or for breakfast if you're feeling naughty - we won't tell!
Galettes are available by the slice or as whole cakes in the restaurant until Wednesday 31st January. Diners who find a fève in their portion will receive a bottle of house Champagne. Subject to availability. To make a reservation, call 020 3301 1155 or click here. Whole galettes are £15 and serve 6-8 people, a slice costs £2.70 at the Boulangerie. Available to take away or have delivered with 2 hours’ notice. Please call 020 3301 1155 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to place your order. Deliveries are free within the WC2 area.
