About

Founder, Max Lewis has teamed up with MJMK to open Lenny’s, a New Haven pizzeria. Lenny’s brings apizza, pronounced ‘abeetz’, to Covent Garden.

Every pizza comes out crispy, chewy and charred, and served whole, so the advice is to order more than you think. Highlights include the signature Tomato Pie which keeps it simple with tomato, garlic and pecorino. The Lenny: half Tomato, half Cheese & Tomato. The Houdini: tomato, mozzarella, bacon, garlic and red onion - an off menu pie from the residency and Handsome Dan’s Potato Pie - named after New Haven based Yale University’s English bulldog.

To drink, a considered list of cocktails, craft beers and American style milkshakes. Something for everyone, whatever the time of day. Open every day, from lunch until late.

What makes Lenny’s special is the heritage behind every pie. Apizza has been a way of life in New Haven for generations. What sets it apart is the bake: pies stay in the oven a little longer for a crust that’s crispy, chewy and charred. The focus is on the tomato, with less cheese than your average pizza, so every ingredient has room to shine.

To learn the craft, Max went straight to the source. He travelled to New Haven and stayed on Wooster Street, between Sally’s Apizza and Frank Pepe, the pizzerias that made the style famous. There he met Ray Santiago, a Sally’s veteran taught by Frank Pepe’s own nephew and one of the most respected pizza makers in New Haven. Skills honed, Max came back to London with one mission: bring apizza to a city that didn’t know what it was missing.

Now New Haven’s finest has a special place to call home on Henrietta Street.
