Fortune Theatre

Described as the ‘most intimate of theatres’, Fortune Theatre opened in 1924 and has seen many stars on its stage throughout the years.

Fortune Theatre was built on the site of the Old Albion Tavern, making it the first theatre to be built in London, following World War I. Throughout World War II, the venue was used by ENSA, providing entertainment for the forces.

The theatre is known for its long-running production of The Woman In Black, which ran for 33 years, and also its impressive list of actors who have taken to the stage, including Dame Judy Dench and Maureen Lipman.
