Paul Smith

In 1970, Paul Smith opened his first menswear store in Nottingham, stocking contemporary fashion names, and later adding his own designs to his collection. He showcased his first official menswear collection at Paris Fashion Week, earning him his reputation as one of Britain’s foremost designers.

In 1979, the first Paul Smith store in London opened at 44 Floral Street, Covent Garden. His trademark rainbow stripes adorn modern silhouettes, combining classic design with a contemporary edge. He specialised in menswear design until 1993, when he branched out into womenswear, later becoming the first UK fashion designer to receive a knighthood.
