Bancone was founded in 2018 at the now flagship site in Covent Garden, followed in 2019 with its second incarnation in Golden Square, Soho. Bancone make fresh, hand-made pasta inspired by Italy, London and much of Europe, every day. The pasta menu will have your mouth watering; spicy pork and nduja ragu, and braised ox cheek dishes are just a couple of the fresh pasta dishes on offer. Gluten free pasta is also available.
Their wine list complements the food menu in variety and quality, championing lesser known vineyards and growers alongside some big hitters – while cocktails are focused on vermouth, bitters and Campari. Bancone has a buzzing, vibrant and informal atmosphere. The restaurant is adorned with long dining counters and a fully open kitchen where you are able to watch the chefs at work.
Bancone in Covent Garden welcomes reservations of up to 4 guests online. The restaurant also has a private dining room which can be reserved for parties of 10-12 people, and offers a special Feasting Menu where dishes are served on large plates and bowls in an intimate environment.
The authentic, Italian-inspired restaurant is so popular, that getting a booking can be tricky. Bancone acknowledge that although this is great for business, it can be a frustrating experience when all you want to do is tuck into a bowl of your favourite pasta! Whether you’re trying to book a spontaneous date night or last minute celebration, it is definitely worth booking a table in advance, requesting a counter seat, or gathering the troops and using the private dining area.
One of the highlights of the Covent Garden restaurant is the stunning countertop. Although counter seat dining is certainly becoming more in vogue, it’s still not seen as the “done thing”, however being in the know will mean you are far more likely to get a seat in the busiest restaurants. Counter seating at Bancone is the perfect spot for a nerve wracking first date, with a little less awkward eye contact and the free entertainment of chef watching! Counter dining at Bancone is also a great place for solo diners who wish to socialise and meet new people, or if you’re not in the socialising mood, a place to lap up the restaurant’s atmosphere and concentrate on the sensational food.
