Sagar

Sagar is a plant-based/vegetarian restaurant that is recognised as breaking new ground in the presentation of South Indian vegetarian and vegan dishes across London. Based on Catherine Street, opposite the Theatre Royal, it is the perfect place to indulge in a hot meal before seeing a show.

Sagar is passionate about infusing South Indian culinary heritage with bold and contemporary flavours of the moment. As such, some of their dishes are completely new to this country! If you are looking for a warm welcome and a new and exciting dining experience which you will remember for all the right reasons, Sagar is the restaurant for you. At Sagar the chefs originate from Udopi, a small town which rests in the coastal region of the Western Ghats, in Karnataka – some 60km from Bangalore. There, a famous temple houses an idol of Lord Krishna richly adorned in jewels. The town is a knowledge centre for authentic South Indian Cuisine. Udupi chefs are renowned for the cooking of traditional, South Indian vegetarian food.

A highlight of the South Indian style restaurant is the Mysore paintings which adorn the walls. The state of Karnatake, in which Udupi is found, is the home of a rich artistic tradition that takes root in the form of music and dance, costume and painting.

Sagar is breaking new ground in South Indian cuisine. With the restaurant comfortably tucked away on the bustling streets of Covent Garden, Sagar is the perfect place to take a seat, get away from the cold, and experience the delicately balanced flavours of traditional vegan and vegetarian South Indian cuisine. The restaurant exceeds at making their guests feel extraordinarily special, striving to exceed each and every customer’s expectation to make their dining experience a truly memorable one.

The teams at our Sagar Covent Garden restaurant look forward to meeting you and would like to wish you the warmest of welcomes.
