The Delicatessen at Petersham Nurseries
MON – SAT: 8AM – 8PM
SUN: 10AM – 6PM
For the first time, a delicatessen is part of the Petersham Nurseries offering. Recalling memories of an Italian alimentari, Managing Director, Lara Boglone’s vision is to bring the spirit of a traditional Italian grocery store to this elegant setting in central London. Drawing inspiration from ingredients found in the Boglione family’s own larder and fridge, they hope to engage all the senses in this immersive environment.
Travelling extensively around the UK and Italy, Lara and the culinary research and development team search for the finest and most delicious tasting produce. Staying true to the company’s values, sustainability and the ethical standards of each supplier was fundamental in their selection.
The Delicatessen introduces and showcases items from small artisanal suppliers, some of which have never previously left their regional homes or been offered in the UK. Also on offer is a selection of the very best seasonal fruit and vegetables, some of which is provided by Haye Farm, owned by younger brother Harry Boglione. The farm also supplies eggs to make fresh pasta daily.
A larder of speciality store cupboard ingredients include an array of dried pasta, olive oil, capers, anchovies, biscuits, chocolates and more. Petersham Nurseries has also launched its own line of jams, honey, muesli, tea, and coffee, presented beautifully and ready to be taken home or given as a gift.
As in classic Italian grocery stores, a bountiful counter is the focal point. Brimming with sweet and savoury pastries, fresh pasta, and sauces, made daily on site and a selection of antipasti, cheeses and charcuterie. Made to order sandwiches are available using ingredients from the counter. An assortment of salads and soups are also offered daily. Coffee and cold pressed juices are served as well as almond milk, made in-house, using the almonds from Zisola, Lara’s husband’s vineyard in Sicily. A blackboard with daily inspiration provides recipes, useful tips and ideas.
