Venchi, the legendary ‘chocogelateria’ from Turin, brings authentic Italian ice-cream (gelato) and all manner of chocolate-flavoured delights to Covent Garden's Market Building.
Silviano Venchi began crafting chocolates in his pastry shop when he was 16 years old, and soon became renown for creating the best in the city of Cuneo during the 19th century. Officially founded in 1878, Venchi’s confectionery faithfully respects the Italian tradition by selecting the most genuine and natural ingredients from Italy such as hazelnuts, almonds and olive oil. Some recipes are still produced today as they were 140 years ago. Try the iconic Gianduiotto 1878, the highest expression of Venchi tradition and owing its unique flavour to Piedmonte IGP hazelnuts, considered the world’s best.
This is also true of Venchi’s typical Italian gelato, made fresh every day, with fresh organic milk, their great chocolate and the best fruit available. Venchi’s Gelato is made to the unique and traditional Venchi recipe resulting in a creamy, mousse like ice cream.
Venchi makes all its gelato on-site and produces over 90 flavours. As with all its products, only natural ingredients are used. Gelato Venchi contains no food colouring, no artificial thickeners and no palm oil for a naturally indulgent treat. Choose from classic Italian gelato flavours such as Nougatine, Pistachio di Bronte and Nocciolato al latte.
The Covent Garden store opened in 2012, stocking gourmet gifts and indulgent goodies like Venchi’s ‘legendary chocaviar’ (tiny nuggets of cocoa) and ‘cigars’ of cocoa paste and ground meringue. There are piles of Venchi pralines, ingots of gianduja and jars of impossible-to-resist chocolate spread, produced in-store using an exclusive recipe.
Venchi recently celebrated their 100th store with chocolate boutiques opened in key cities such as Hong Kong, Dubai and Rio de Janeiro. A flagship store was launched in New York complete with the largest chocolate waterfall in the world!
