Get your cameras at the ready! To celebrate the launch of London's favourite Instagram account Pretty City London's new book, the account's founder, Siobhan Ferguson has shared 8 of her favourite and most 'Instagrammable' Covent Garden locations for you to discover and snap, snap, snap away.
Bustling Covent Garden isn’t immediately associated with Pretty City London, especially given its Central London location and its ranking as a top London attraction.
However, explore it on a quieter time of the day and it soon becomes clear why it is listed as one of the best neighbourhoods to explore in the new book Pretty City London: Discovering London’s Beautiful Places.
If you are lucky enough to visit early in the day or late in the evening, take your time, stroll around and observe the detail of the quaint old arches dressed with beautiful flower carts.
Otherwise, why not capture the ambience of the street performers, beautiful shops, stalls, and restaurants that all make this a very special place to visit and photograph.
Is there anything prettier than a pastel coloured macaron to photograph? This little French patisserie ticks all the Insta-boxes.
Take a seat outside on the wonderful Ladurée al fresco seating and soak up the magical atmosphere of the Piazza and watch the performances. Or pop upstairs to the beautiful tea salon with wonderful outdoor balcony seating.
Newly opened lifestyle emporium Petersham Nurseries has so much to offer the eager Instagrammer.
Located on King Street it includes a Delicatessen, Florist and Shop with two new restaurants with a beautiful courtyard. Say no more. It’s one of the most 'Instagrammable' spaces to ever open in London.
Aesop's emerald green tiled floor, which pays homage to the Piazza provides the perfect backdrop for #fromwhereistand shots, white washed walls and row after row of of its exquisite beauty products are a star attraction too.
This pedestrian street is the perfect place to photograph. It's flooded with natural light and home to so many beautiful shops including NARS, Jo Malone London and Monica Vinader which all make a beautiful backdrop for #strangerinmyfeed shots. Their own interiors are all wonderful to capture too.
Primrose Bakery on Tavistock Street is a must-visit with bespoke handmade cupcakes and layer cakes. Its pretty yellow facade simply must be seen.
On the edge of the neighbourhood, Somerset House deserves a visit for sure. The beautiful NeoClassical building which is home to a beautiful ice rink in the winter and a water fountain in the summer is a must-see.
The Nelson Staircase and views of many of London's landmarks are also what makes it so special. Don’t leave without a visit to one of its beautiful cafés or restaurants, namely Pennethorne's, Spring or Fernandez & Wells.
