How to Spend 24 Hours in Covent Garden
Covent Garden is filled to the brim with places to shop, eat and experience. Every time you visit there is something new, something exclusive and something unmissable happening.
In our new series ‘What to do in Covent Garden’ we help you tackle the FOMO struggle with our expert guide of making the most of your time whilst you’re here.
First up, 24 hours.
So you’ve arrived in London for one night only, how very Dream Girls of you. Speaking of Dream Girls, did you know Covent Garden is surrounded by theatres? With over 20 to choose from you’ll be able to see a classic or a niche hit anywhere around the Piazza.
If you’re in town for 24 hours you want to make the most of Covent Garden, which means staying close, and you can’t get much closer than the Henrietta.
An 18 room boutique hotel from the team that brought you the Experimental Cocktail Club, you can count on them for three things – proximity to the Piazza, beautifully designed rooms and a well-stocked hotel bar.
So you’ve got your place to stay, you’ve got your theatre tickets and now you need your place to eat in Covent Garden before you walk your Kinky Boots all the way to the stalls.
Balthazar has been an institution of Covent Garden since its arrival in 2013. A New York institution, their Pre-Theatre deal doesn’t get much better with three courses coming in at £22.95.
Looking for a night cap? Then look no further than the entrance of your hotel, the Henrietta Bistro. In winter they do a fantastic warm gin punch (from what we can remember) and in summer it is rosé all day, well they are French of course.
You’re well rested from a night of sleeping wrapped in your monogrammed Henrietta Hotel robes and you’re looking for a breakfast fit for a jet setter like yourself. Well, here in Covent Garden we take brunch very seriously. Look right in to the heart of the Piazza with brunch on Ladurée’s terrace. From here you can see the sights as people drift into the historic Piazza, traders set up for the day and Covent Garden comes alive.
Now, I know you’re short on time but you simply cannot leave without experiencing some of the best stores in London. From over 30 beauty brands to some of the most exclusive menswear destinations, like Hackett House and The Real McCoys you’re spoiled for choice. You simply cannot leave without a trip to The Shop at Bluebird, set within a stunning Grade-II listed Carriage Hall this space is breathtaking. Whether it’s a niche, contemporary brand or bigger, more familiar names, Bluebird brings pieces that they love to a space you’ll write home about.
Now off to the tube, straight to Heathrow and remember to come back soon.
